Title: "Boundary integral equations for the Laplace-Beltrami operator 
on the unit sphere $S^2$"

Abstract:

In this talk I will show how standard ideas from boundary integral 
methods can be adapted and used to solve boundary value problems for 
the Laplace--Beltrami operator on the unit sphere. As an example, I 
will derive a direct boundary element method for the Dirichlet problem 
on a Lipschitz subsurface of the sphere. Some numerical examples along 
with basic error estimates for the single layer equation will be 
presented.
