0.) Please read this mail carefully.
the Ubuntu-version on the entire cluster has been updated to 12.04
(precise). At the same time, the headnodes have been upgraded to more
efficient hardware. Please take note of the following:
1.) /data-Partition
To maintain easy accessibility, all data from /data, /cfddata and
/moldata has been merged into one /data-partition. Therefore, you will
now find a single directory /data/username containing your previous
(if present) /data, /cfddata and /moldata partitions
2.) Quota
Due to new harddrives, the user-quotas have been raised to:
* 20GB for /home
* 2TB for /data
In case you seriously need more disk-space, please contact
paradm(a)ins.uni-bonn.de explaining your situation.
3.) Additional Software (/opt)
We are still in the process of compiling all software we previously
provided via the /opt-partition. However this may take some time and
in case you need a specific package urgently, please contact
paradm(a)ins.uni-bonn.de.
4.) K2
In addition to everest, it is now possible to use a second headnode
named k2. You can use k2 in the same way as everest, e.g. compile and
post-process your code and submit jobs via qsub. Please do not use
everest for any post-processing!
You can ssh to k2 from the stud- and the staff-net.
