The focus is on the programming models MPI and OpenMP. Language support is given for Fortran and C. The course was developed by HLRS, EPCC, NIC and ZIH. Hands-on sessions will allow users to test and understand the basic constructs of MPI, OpenMP, Intel Inspector, VAMPIR, and other tools. On days 1-3, several parallel programming models are taught. Message Passing with MPI-3.0 is the major programming model on large distributed-memory systems in high-performance computing. OpenMP-4.0 is dedicated to shared memory systems. On the 4th day, tools for debugging and analyzing parallel programs are presented. Lectures will be given by Dr. Rolf Rabenseifner (HLRS, member of MPI-3 Forum) and scientists of the ZIH. Social events are on a self-paying basis: - Monday: Guided city walk (free) + dinner - Wednesday: "Die Fledermaus" (Johann Strauss) in the Semper Opera (We have a very special and reduced price of only 10 Euro for our young PhD students and their accompanying persons - you should not be older than about 32 years and you should have a student card or a letter from your institute that you are a PhD student. The Virtual Institute - High Productivity Supercomputing (VI-HPS) is an initiative to promote the development, integration and use of HPC tools: see http://www.vi-hps.org Participants are invited to bring their own application codes to the workshop to analyze and tune their performance with the help of experts. The workshop will: * Give an overview of the VI-HPS programming tools suite * Explain the functionality and effective usage of individual tools * Offer hands-on experience and expert assistance using the tools Workshop Overview: ======================== The workshop will be held in English and run from 09:00 to not later than 18:00 each day, with breaks for lunch and refreshments. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation, however, for participants from universities and public research institutions in PRACE countries no fee is charged.
