* Fourth Scientific Computing Workshop 2008
                           with special emphasis on
 Parameter Estimation, Optimization and Inverse Modelling in Geoscences
                  http://www.geohydromodelling.uni-kiel.de/4SCS/
                                June 16-18, 2008
                    Christian-Albrechts University Kiel, Germany

The purpose of the workshop is to provide an opportunity to the
researchers to meet and discuss on
several topics on recent developments in the field of
Parameter Estimation, Optimization and Inverse Modelling,
in particular with applications in Geosciences.
 The meeting will address both theoretical
(modelling, numerical analysis) and=20
practical issues (numerical methods, implementations
and applications). The
focus will be put on methods which are applied or
applicable in Geosciences.

Topics include besides others:

* Parameter estimation and identification
* Methods for solving inverse problems
* Optimization methods
* Model hierachies and multi-model methods
* Adaptive methods

Invited keynote speakers:

# Dr. Peter Bayer (ETH Z=FCrich)
# Prof. Roland Becker (Universit=E9 de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour)
# Dr. Ralf Giering (FastOPt, Hamburg)
# Prof. Michael Hinze (University of Hamburg)
# Dr. Samar Khatiwala (New York)
# Prof. Rupert Klein (ZIB Berlin and PKI Potsdam)
# Prof. Andrea Walther (TU Dresden)
