Dear Madam or Sir / sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

this course gives an overview on the Cray XC40 system at HLRS.
Specialists from Cray will talk about the hardware, best practices, and
the new software enhancements.

[On the days after this course, we offer a XC40 optimization workshop for
experienced users on our Cray Hazel Hen.]

Introduction to the Cray XC40 HPC System at HLRS
================================================

Sep. 19, 2017, 09:30 - 17:30
HLRS, Room 0.438 (Ruehle-Saal), Nobelstr. 19, D-70569 Stuttgart,
Germany, http://www.hlrs.de/training/2017/XC40-2

Abstract:
In August 2015, the Cray XC40 supercomputer Hornet at HLRS has been
upgraded to a new system named "Hazel Hen" featuring 7712 compute nodes,
each equipped with two 12-core Intel Haswell processors running at 2.5
GHz. Each node is equipped with 128 GB DDR4 memory and connected to the
other nodes through the Cray Aries network. The peak performance amounts
to 7.4 PFlops.

HLRS and Cray offer this workshop in order to help users running their
codes on this new large system. The course gives an overview on the XC40
system. Furthermore, specialists from Cray will talk about the hardware,
best practices, and the new software enhancements.

Target audience: New users of Hazel Hen. Nevertheless, if you are
interested in updates or CRAY XC40 systems in general, you are also
welcome to attend this course.

Prerequisites: none

Deadline for registration is September 10th, 2017.

Note: An additional workshop "Cray XC40 Workshop on Scaling and
Node-level Performance" takes place on the subsequent three days. These
additional three days are dedicated to the users of Hazel Hen.
