Dear Colleagues,
this is an invitation to a talk held by
Donald L. Brown, PhD (Numerical Porous Media Center, KAUST,
Saudi Arabia):
"Some Reduced order Models for Pore-Scale Processes"
on Monday, December 16, 2013, at 10:15 a.m. in the lecture
room WE 6.020.
The abstract reads: Porous media flow can have many scales and is
often a multiphysical process. Simulating the full scale problem is
often unfeasible and a reduced order model is desired. A useful
tool in the analysis of such problems in that of homogenization. An
averaged or reduced description is derived circumventing the need
for complicated simulation of the fine scale features. In this talk,
we recall recent developments of homogenization techniques in the
application of flows high contrast media. We have particular
emphasis on the Brinkmann equation and related numerical methods.
Other reduced order modeling techniques and applications for porous
media will also be discussed.
Best regards
Daniel Peterseim
