The focus is on programming models, MPI and OpenMP, and PETSc. Language support is given for Fortran and C. The course was developed by HLRS, EPCC, NIC and ZIH. Hands-on sessions will allow users to test and understand the basic constructs of MPI, OpenMP, PETSc, Intel Thread Checker, VAMPIR, and other tools. On days 1-3, several parallel programming models are taught. Message Passing with MPI is the major programming model on large distributed-memory systems in high-performance computing. OpenMP is dedicated to shared memory systems. PETSc is a high-level progamming interface for parallel solver. On the 4th day, tools for debugging and analyzing parallel programs are presented. Lectures will be given by Dr. Rolf Rabenseifner (HLRS, member of MPI-3 Forum) and scientists of the ZIH. Social events are on a self-paying basis: - Monday: Guided city walk (free) + dinner - Tuesday: Opera Orlando (from Haendel) in the Semper Opera (special 42% reduction !!! for this course: 32 Euro in row 8, and 25 Euro in row 17/18 also for accompanying persons) Please register soon, the course is limited to 35 participants.
